Bromsgrove Vets 31
Shipston Vets 19
Shipston arrived at Bromsgrove to discover the home team only had 13 and weren't prepared to have contested scrums, although a few of the home team looked like they could easily play up front. This somewhat upset the gnarled shipston triumverate of Watkins, Brooks and Ashworth who relish the front row contest. Shipston agreed to play with 13 also in the interest of fair play, but were soon exploited in the backs where bromsgrove created an overlap to open the scoring. Carl Hamilton got a try back for the Rams after a mazey run where he appeared to ghost through about eight tackles. Grove scored again for a 12-7 interval lead. Shipston should have levelled the scores when an excellent catch and drive at a lineout on the home 22 was driven to the line only for the Rams to lose control at the crucial point. From the ensuing scrum, Bromsgrove worked up the park and extended their lead. Players 14 and 15 were brought on for the home side who had a numerical advantage for a while before Shipston had a count up. Hamilton was put clear by Hobill for his second before the home side scored again. Another excellent lineout by the Rams put Hobill clear and Hamilton was on hand to complete his hat trick. Bromsgrove scored a fifth try to sttle the contest.
